Each research group shared the progress of the activities and activities in 2026 as follows.

Oasis hydrology group:
Dr. Safwat reported on a field trip to Kharga Oasis conducted from April 27 to May 6, during which the team carried out geophysical measurements to assess groundwater levels, soil types, and salinity. The team plans to conduct similar measurements in Dakhla during the next field trip to gain a deeper understanding of regional groundwater mechanisms.
Dr. Adel presented the results of his field trips in October and December 2025, during which he collected and analyzed 339 soil samples. The group is planning three additional field trips before next March.

Oasis digital platform group:
The group shared updates on the development of two digital platforms: a communication tool using WhatsApp and a photo-sharing system. The basic functions of these platforms are scheduled to be launched in June.

Oasis agriculture group:
Dr. Aziz reported on agricultural experiments, including winter wheat and barley cultivation, which have reached the harvest stage, as well as summer experiments with maize and sorghum grown in both normal and saline soils using furrow irrigation. He noted efforts to control armyworm infestations in maize and announced plans to cultivate soybean and peanut varieties by the end of May, with sprinkler irrigation applied to each crop.

Oasis society group:
Dr. Samir and Iwasaki reported on open discussion meetings held with farmers in four to five villages in Dakhla in April, addressing issues related to irrigation, drainage, salinity, plant diseases, and agricultural advisory services. Focus groups, surveys with questionnaires are planned this year.
