Presentation on Moshia Village by Egyptian member Mr. Mahoud Zakariya
- Moshia Village consists of an older qaryaand a newer izba formed in the modern period. Many residents are migrants from Upper Egypt, and four prominent family names were noted.
- Regarding images used in brochures and the website, it was pointed out that the illustrations of farmers were Upper Egyptian in style, whereas farmers in the oasis typically wear straw hats. It was also suggested that traditional sāqiya(waterwheel) images should be replaced with illustrations of modern irrigation such as sprinklers.
- Although the team wishes to begin household surveys and community activities soon, the Japanese experts require security clearance at New Valley University. Without this, security clearance for social surveys and focusgroup activities cannot proceed, resulting in some delay before the Oasis Society Group can start full activities.
- The next online meeting is planned for late February, around February 20.
