Oasis Agriculture Meeting (June 16)

Agriculture Meeting

An online meeting was held with the participation of both the Egyptian and Japanese teams.

The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of agricultural experiments, particularly maize and sorghum studies, and on planning upcoming soybean and peanut trials. The team discussed various parameters being measured, including plant height, chlorophyll content, leaf area, and flowering dates. Dr. Nobuhiro Suzuki emphasized the importance of integrating these multiple parameters effectively to evaluate salt tolerance. Dr. Khaled Abdelhafez explained that these characteristics were being measured to identify promising genotypes for salinity tolerance and potential cultivation in the New Valley environment.

Regarding the upcoming soybean and peanut experiments, three genotypes of each crop are planned for testing under normal conditions only.
