As part of the initiatives undertaken by the Oases Project, the implementation of several irrigation systems, i.e., drip, sprinkler and surface (flood) irrigation systems has begun at the farm of the Faculty of Agriculture at New Valley University. This effort is intended to establish a comparative research platform for the forthcoming winter growing season. The primary emphasis will be on the cultivation of essential crops, namely wheat and quinoa. The principal aim of this undertaking is to conduct a scientific assessment to identify the most superior varieties of these crops, while simultaneously determining the most efficient and productive irrigation method for their growth under the specific arid conditions characteristic of the New Valley region. This research is crucial for optimizing the management of water resources and enhancing agricultural sustainability within the oasis ecosystem.
